Our Chair and 14 Trustees are leading figures appointed by the Prime Minister to the Board of the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF), Heritage Lottery Fund's (HLF) parent body. They make decisions on matters of policy, grant applications to HLF for £1million and over and grant applications under our targeted programmes:
The Trustees are supported by grant-assessment teams based in the relevant region or country.
The Trustees receive advice from heritage experts and work within laws made by Parliament and directions given by Government. Their decisions on individual applications and matters of policy are made entirely independently of the Government.
