Repair Grants Scotland: Frequently Asked Questions

1. What size of grant can I apply for?
You can apply for a grant of between £10,000 and £250,000. This may mean a maximum grant of £125,000 from each organisation. If your project is larger, you may be eligible under one of HLF or Historic Scotland’s other grant schemes.

2. Is there a deadline for applications?
Yes. The deadlines for the current scheme are the 31 August 2008 and the 28 February 2009.

3. How long does it take before I get a decision about my project?
All applications to Repair grants for places of worship must go through a two-stage process. You should normally receive a decision on your stage 1 grant application within six months of the application closing date.

4. How long can my project last for?
The repairs to your place of worship must be completed within two years of the grant offer.

5. Do I have to contribute anything towards my project?
We will always expect you to contribute towards the project costs from your own and other resources. There is no standard level of grant and we will tailor all offers to invidual circumstances. The amount of funding we expect you to provide will depend on our assessment of your financial need.
