Entelechy Arts - 'Market' (Young Roots £23,500) This project celebrates the history of, heritage and culture of one of the oldest surviving street markets in Britain. Young people with complex disabilities and/or sensory disabilities will research, record and produce a multimedia installation that will tell the lives of the people who have worked in or visited the market from the past to the present. The project will be focusing on Deptford High Street, which has an important local heritage from medieval times onwards, in particular its market. |

Dagenham Old National School Trust (Heritage Grant £248,000) The secrets of Dagenham Village, which go back to the 17th century, will be opened up to many more people as a result of this award. The HLF cash will allow the Trustees of Dagenham’s oldest school building, and the Council of Dagenham Parish Church to carry out urgent refurbishment to ‘Dagenham Old National School’, and encourage visitors to explore key graves and tombs in order to tell the story of Dagenham’s past. |
Mutiny Arts - 'Sam the Wheel' (Your Heritage £49,900) 'Sam the Wheel' is a participatory video project exploring the heritage of Brixton, inspired by unique film footage of Brixton filmed between 1960 and 1980 by Clovis Salmon, a first generation Jamaican immigrant. Workshops with local people, youth groups and senior citizens will produce a series of short films incorporating oral histories and footage provided by Clovis Salmon and others. The project will culminate in a 6 week exhibition with the final production published on DVD with accompanying booklet and web resource. |
Bat Conservation Trust - 'England Count Bat' (Heritage Grant £596,000) The aim of this project is to conserve the native bat species that are in England. The project that will involve volunteers across England participating in activities to conserve bats and their habitats, increasing an understanding of bat populations in the UK. Over a 4-year period the Trust aim to engage some 5,800 people in bat conservation and related activities. |
Evelyn Oldfield Unit - 'London Refugee Stories' (Your Heritage £50,000) This is an application from Evelyn Oldfield Unit for £50,000 towards a project providing an education programme building on the work of the Refugee Communities History (RCH) project on refugees in London to raise awareness of and increase understanding of the role of refugees in London’s heritage and to counter negative images of refugees. |
