The weekend of the 21-22nd of September Scotland is celebrating all that its diverse and rich heritage has to offer with a Heritage Weekend. This special weekend is being organised by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to mark that it has invested a total of £1/2 billion in almost 2000 projects across the country over the past 14 years.

As part of the celebrations many Heritage Lottery funded buildings and projects will be opening free of charge to the public. Visitors will also be able to enjoy some special promotions and events. The Heritage Weekend is being held in partnership with Doors Open Day which will also have properties open in the Dundee, Glasgow, Perth & Kinross and Shetland areas that weekend.

Free entry to Burns Cottage Museum, Alloway
Guided walk/bus tour of Wade’s road’s and bridges in Perth & Kinross (pre-booking essential)
Free entry to the Scott Monument, Edinburgh
Free entry to Mugdock Castle, Mugdock Country Park
Guided tours of HLF acquisitions at the National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh
Free admission to the Scottish Maritime Museum, Irivne
Access to the War Poets Collection at the Craiglockhart Campus of Napier University
Free admission to the Scottish Railway Exhibition at Boness with access to the restored Inter City Diesel Multiple Unit
Free entry to the Lighthouse Museum, Fraserburgh
