Do places of worship have to be listed?
Yes. Projects only qualify if the place of worship has one of the following listings: A, B or C?
What is the minimum number times a year a place of worship can be used for public worship?
We expect places of worship to be used at least six times a year in order to qualify.
Can a place of worship which is a monastery, a nunnery, a school or hospital chapel, or it is privately owned apply for a grant?
No, you do not qualify if your project falls within these categories.
Do places of worship need to provide public access outside the usual hours of worship?
Yes. To qualify for a grant, we will expect you to provide regular advertised public access to the building for at least 40 days a year. This can be done in a variety of ways, through special events such as concerts or community events, or through school visits.
Does repair work need to be identified in a recent condition survey (for example, a quinquennial (five-yearly) inspection or other professional report)?
Yes. You will not qualify unless you provide a copy of a report that confirms how urgent the repair work is and has been identified as being necessary within the next two years
Can the repairs be carried out under one building contract?
No.We prioritise projects that can be carried out in a single phase.
How long can my project last for?
The repairs to your place of worship must be completed within two years of the grant offer.
