March 2012

  • Requester sought details of the small grant awarded for the ‘A Daughter's Tale’ project in Cornwall. Factual information was supplied.
  • Requester sought details of applications or enquiries made by Sheffield Moors Partnership since 2009. No such applications or enquiries had been received. Informed requester that no information was held.
  • Requester sought information regarding HLF contracts awarded to Davis Langdon Ltd. Factual information was provided.
  • Requester sought information regarding the ‘Memories of Twickenham Riverside’ project. Factual information was provided.
  • Requester sought information about grants made to Grade I listed churches in West Sussex. Factual information was provided.
  • Requester asked for an application form for the Bletchley Park Trust project. A redacted application form was provided.
  • Requester asked for information about any use of the Powers of Entry under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act by HLF or NHMF. Confirmed that no such activity had taken place.

February 2012

  • Requester asked for the name of an individual who had supplied HLF with information relating to their project. This was withheld on the basis that the information had been supplied in confidence and to release the name would breach the individual's rights under data protection law. It could also discourage other individuals from raising concerns about projects. 
  • Requester sought details of the use of powers of entry over the last three years, including details of the acts under which they were made and the offences concerned. The requester was informed that HLF has never made us of any powers of entry and that no information on the subject was held.
  • Requester asked for information about the number of Grade I listed churches in Kent, East Sussex and West Sussex. Factual information was provided.
  • Requester sought information relating to Harlow Tower project.  Factual information was provided.
  • Requester asked for a copy of the application form for St Mary the Virgin Oxford. The relevant sections of the application form were released.
  • Requester asked for four project application forms. Sections 2-4 of the forms were provided.
  • Requester sought information regarding contracts awarded to Scott Wilson Ltd. Factual information was provided.
  • Requester sought information about the Brunel 200 project. A redacted application form was supplied.

January 2012

  • Requester asked for details of all grants made in the Bolsover area since January 2000. The information was provided.
  • Requester asked for all information about the Harrow Minds project. After clarifying what was wanted, the relevant sections of the application form were provided, with an offer to provide more information if desired. No further request has been received.
  • Following earlier correspondence about the Southend on Sea Museum, the requester asked for confirmation of whether or not an application had been received from Southend Borough Council. It was confirmed that no application had been received and there had been no further developments on this project since the original correspondence in January 2011.
  • Requester sought information about funding for St James' Church, Pontypool as part of the Pontypool THI (Townscape Heritage Initiative). Factual information about the inclusion of St James' Church in the project was provided, together with a redacted copy of the THI application form.
  • Requester asked for documentation on the digitisation of Hackney archives. Following clarification of the request, a redacted application form was released.
  • Requester asked for the details of HLF's Senior Information Risk Officer (SIRO). The details were provided.
  • Requester asked for number and value of grants made and applications received, by region during 2011, and for the full details of all applicants from the North East region during that period. Factual information was provided.
  • Requester asked for details of the application for the Hunstanton Pier project. Section 2 of application form was supplied.
  • Requester asked for a copy of the application form for the Hardman's Liverpool Young Roots project. A redacted copy of the form was provided.

December 2011

  • The requester asked when the grant was awarded for the Old Surrey Downs project, the size of the grant and what the project aimed to do.  Factual information was provided.
  • The requester asked for information on the grant conditions, opening hours and letters of support and involvement of Much Wenlock Town Council in the Much Wenlock Museum project. Factual answers were provided.
  • The requester asked for copies of the case paper and Committee for Scotland minutes for Bigger Museums Trust project which had been rejected. The case paper and the summary minute for the item were provided, noting that the official minute would not be approved until the March meeting.

November 2011

  • The requester asked for applications forms relating to the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum, and correspondence between HLF and Middlesbrough Council. After consulting with the Council, this was released.
  • The requester asked for information on costs in 2010-11 of translating written material between English and Welsh, of providing spoken translation services at events, and of any assessment of the use/ benefit of translation services. Factual answers were provided.
  • The requester asked a series of questions about HLF's monitoring requirements for parks in Lichfield. Factual answers were provided.
  • The requester asked for information on ICT budgets / spend across various headers in 2010-11 and 2011-12. This was provided.
  • The requester asked for information on the Bardney Abbey Project and a copy of the application form. Those sections of the form that applicants are asked to agree upfront can be released on request were provided.
  • The requester asked for details of grant provided for restoration of 1 Tanner Bank as part of the North Shields Fish Quay THI. Factual answers were provided.
  • The requester asked for copies of all documents relating to Waterlow Park, Highgate. After consultation with the applicant, copies of the documents were provided.

October 2011

  • The requester asked for correspondence HLF and the Dark Hedges Preservation trust and elected representatives relating to the Dark hedges project. After consulting with the grantee, this was released, with personal contact information redacted.
  • The requester asked for the application form for the 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning Project. Sections of the form that applicants are asked to agree upfront can be released on request were provided.
  • The requester asked for details of when a named employee started work on an HLF funded project administered by Tower Hamlets Council, the length of their contract of employment and the budget set aside for the post. The requester was informed that HLF did not hold information on when the employee started work or the length of their contract. The information on the budget set aside for the post could be released, but the London Borough of Tower Hamlets would have to be informed of this. The requester confirmed they required no further information.

September 2011

  • The requester asked for all information held on Sunderland City Council's application for Hylton Castle. In the first instance the requester was provided with a summary of the application and the reasons it was rejected, with sections of the application form which the applicant had agreed upfront could be released on request, and with a list of all other documentation held, to assist them in identifying any especial areas of interest. No follow up inquiry has been received.
  • The requester asked how many fraudulent lottery applications had been identified in HLF in the last five years. The response identified the number, the maximum value of funds lost, and confirmed that all cases had been reported to the police.
  • The requester asked for written correspondence between HLF and High Peak Council relating to the suggestion that the town hall/ market hall be removed from the programme of works. No written correspondence was held but a summary of the issues was provided.
  • The requester asked a range of questions about the management of the Nettlebed Common and Chilterns Commons projects and asked for copies of monitoring procedures for these grants. Questions were answered factually and monitoring procedures provided.
  • The requester asked for compliance data for FOI requests handled by HLF, and for specific data on the requests the requester had submitted. This was supplied.
  • The requester asked for a copy of Brighton and Hove's Council's masterplan for The Level. The Council had recently placed this on their website and a link was provided.
  • The requester asked for minutes of the Committee for South East England when The Level application had been discussed and for the report of the Committee's view provided to the Board. A summary report of the committee meeting, as previously available on the website was provided. The requester was invited to revert if this was not sufficient for their purposes. The full minute of the discussion of The Level at both the committee meeting and the Board was also provided.
  • The requester asked for the application for the RSPB Seeviews project. Those sections of the form that applicants are asked to agree upfront can be made available on request were released. They also asked for details of the rules under which grants were administered.  Information on the grant programme and its monitoring requirements were provided.

August 2011

  • The requester asked for a copy of a letter of objection to a potential application submitted to HLF. This was withheld on the grounds that members of the public raising concerns would have a reasonable expectation that their correspondence would be treated confidentially.
  • The requester asked for a range of documentation associated with The Level application. Up to date copies of the documentation identified were not held.  A status report was provided, along with information on the applicant's plans for publication.
  • The requester asked for details of money paid to trade unions for 2009/10 and 2010/11 and staff time allocated for union business. The answer to both questions was none.

July 2011

  • The requester asked for all documents relating to the Chiltern Commons application, and any applications from the same applicant in the previous five years. After consulting with the grantee the information was provided. Private contact details were removed, as were commercially sensitive elements of the cost breakdown that were subject to a competitive tendering exercise. Letters of support from third party organisations were identified but not provided as individual organisations had not been consulted on their release.
  • An applicant for a committee vacancy requested information on the assessment of their application, and asked a range of questions about the recruitment process. These were answered and information requested provided with redactions in order than individual opinions could not attributed to specific members of the selection panel.
  • The requester asked for documentation relating to the Holburne Museum's Sharing Our History project. After consulting with the grantee this was provided and comprised: application form, activity report, assessment paper, terms and conditions of grant and monitoring procedures.
  • The requester asked for all documents relating to the grant to the 115 Peterborough Squadron Air Training Corps. After consulting with the grantee, and following correspondence with the requester about how information would be sent, the requester amended their request and identified specific sections of the application form, which were released.
  • The requester asked about options appraisals within Heritage Grants applications, about deadlines for applications, and whether or not a specific potential applicant had submitted a pre-application inquiry. Factual answers were provided and the requester referred to relevant sections of the website as appropriate.

June 2011

  • The requester asked for supporting documentation to an application submitted by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust. These were provided, with private contact details omitted.
  • The requester asked for a copy of the application for the Diversecity project; the cover letter accompanying it; any other relevant documents; the application form for any previously rejected applications; any proposals that contained reference to a named individual. After consulting with the grantee all relevant documents were provided. No reference to the named individual was identified.
  • The requester asked for details of transactions made using official payment cards in the previous two financial years; policies and procedures relating to their use; details of any instance of misuse.  Information requested was provided with redactions to avoid the identification of individuals.
  • The requester asked about the approach adopted for funding churches and religious groups, and numbers of applications received and approved. Factual answers were provided.
  • The requester asked for information about number of applications received and numbers of interviews for a recent recruitment exercise, and for information relating to their own application. This was released.

May 2011

  • The requester asked for details of a grant award to the RSPB for the Hen Harriers project, and a series of questions related to that award. The information was provided to the requester.
