What happens when we award you a grant?

If you applied to us before 31 March 2008 the documents below are relevant to your grant. We are currently preparing new documents for all applications from 1 April 2008 onwards. If you would like us to let you know when these are ready, email enquire@hlf.org.uk

Information set out on this page is designed to help applicants understand how to run and monitor your project smoothly.

Grant notification
We will send you a grant notification letter within seven working days of the decision. This will set out:

  • The amount of grant awarded

  • A break down of the costs for the HLF project

  • Details of how to acknowledge your grant

  • A list of conditions that will apply to your grant, in addition to those in the printed contract attached to the application form

  • If we have decided not to use the printed contract, a date for when the bespoke contract will be sent

Conditions
There are some conditions that we always use in certain situations, such as if you are buying something, or if you are letting out part of a property. We have listed the situations below and their accompanying conditions. Please take the opportunity to read them. Please refer to the relevant condition (see below) within the Acquisition Conditions Document.

Conditions breakdown
If your project involves buying land or building(s) AND doing work to it/them : condition 1.
If buying object(s) and doing work to it/them : condition 2
Buying land or building(s) : condition 3
Buying object(s) : condition 4

Leasing or letting out part or parts of the property to AN Other

  • Please read Condition 1 of the Miscellaneous document

    Doing works to land or buildings and the grant request is for £1 million and over.
  • Please read Condition 3 of the Miscellaneous document

    Creating a database as an approved purpose output
  • Please read the entire Database document

      Contract pack
      We will then send out a contract pack which will include:

    • Your contract

    • Guidance on how to monitor and manage your project (see below for specific programmes)

    • A copy of the additional conditions that will apply to your grant

    • The monitoring forms for telling us about your progress and claiming your grant (see below for specific programmes)

    • Guidance on the EU regulations about how to buy goods and services

    • How to Acknowledge Your Grant

    • Order form

    • Guidance on carrying out a peer review (if applicable to your project)

      • You will need to comply with all of these contract pack documents as you proceed through your project. We have provided them below for your information.
