Last year was a pivotal moment in determining the future of the UK’s heritage. The Government’s consultation on the Lottery Good Causes demonstrated overwhelming support for the achievements of Lottery funding for heritage. As a result, the Heritage Lottery Fund secured a continued one-sixth share of Good Causes income and will continue to distribute that funding through to 2019. Over the next twelve years HLF will have £1.9 billion to invest in conserving, sustaining and sharing our heritage.
In April 2008 we will launch our third Strategic Plan and accompanying programmes, with new application material and guidance. This is set out in ‘Our Heritage, Our Future: Towards the Heritage Lottery Fund’s third Strategic Plan’.
Between 2008 - 2013 HLF will:
• distribute an awards budget of £180million a year (£220 million in
2008-2009)
• continue to fund heritage projects of all sizes, including some major awards over £5million
• simplify application processes and continue all our main programmes
• introduce new initiatives to support applicants and grantees
• remain locally responsive at regional and country level
