Wales Identity Day is an annual celebration of heritage and identity in Wales organised by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).To celebrate Wales Identity Day 2006, HLF wanted to find out what makes your local heritage special, or in other words, what does it mean to come from a particular part of Wales? For example what makes a West Walian different from a South Walian.
As part of the 2006 celebrations, there were a series of community events held throughout Wales. Please click on the following links to read essays by people who attended these events. Photgraphs illustrating what happened in your local area can be viewed by clicking on the relative links on the right.

The National Wales Identity Day 2006 event took place on 24th November at Newport Indoor Market where a mosaic was unveiled, based on the ideas that came from the above community events. You can see this fantastic mosaic on the right of the screen.
