Evaluation of the Young Roots Pilot Scheme 2003

Young Roots is a grant scheme set up by the Heritage Lottery Fund to help local organisations promote the involvement of young people in the heritage of the UK.

Hayton Associates in partnership with the International Centre for Heritage Education, University of Gloucestershire, were commissioned to undertake a two-stage evaluation of the pilot scheme.

Stage One evaluation of the design and management of the pilot scheme was completed in December 2001. This report informed the development of the UK wide Young Roots scheme which was launched nationally in October 2002.

The scope of the Stage Two evaluation was to evaluate the impact of individual projects on participants` understanding of heritage and on local communities.
