Case Study

A history of Wirral Autistic Society

Young Roots Programme
Grant awarded £14,800

Founded in 1968 by a group of parents, the society has since worked with a large number of people with autism on the Wirral.

Young people on the project collated and gathered written information, newspaper stories, oral histories, memories and experiences from both users and families that were involved in the setting up of the society.

The grant also helped to commission a short film made for and by young people and distributed to local groups and school.

The project also produced a 3 month exhibition at the Wirral Museum.
