The British Government has led the world in providing lottery players’ money to transform lives through heritage projects. We have responded with a radical approach. As a result, heritage is reaching new audiences and heritage organisations are developing new skills and ways of working.
We believe that our basic framework, developed over eleven years, and our unique mix of funding for both people and heritage, remains sound. We will therefore stick to our guiding principles as expressed in our three strategic aims:
to conserve the UK’s diverse heritage for future generations to enjoy;
to enable more people to be involved in and make decisions about their
heritage; and
to enable people to learn about their own and others’ heritage.
But this does not mean standing still.
