Wild flowers on a hillside above the sea − a landscape of the Limestone Landscapes project

 South East Northumberland

The main industries which helped South East Northumberland (formally Blyth Valley Borough Council and Wansbeck District Council) prosper were coalmining and shipbulding. The area was seriously affected when its principal industries went into decline. However, heritage regeneration has played a key part in its recent development.

Whichever part of this area's rich heritage you are interested in, then Alexandra Markham is the Development Officer working closly with community groups and partners to encourage more applications from this area. Alexandra attends funding fairs and events and can offer advice sessions in the area. If you are interested please call or email Alexandra Markham on 0191 255 7582 or alexandram@hlf.org.uk.
