South Lanarkshire school children learn about local mining heritage

 Inverclyde

The birthplace of James Watt and an area of unrivalled natural beauty, Inverclyde has a strong industrial heritage supporting mills, textiles, dye works, ship building and the manufacture of sugar and rope. It was the major port for Glasgow, up until the 18th century.

Louise Hastie is the Development Officer for the area and visits on a regular basis to attend funding events, run HLF funding workshops and hold one-to-one meetings with potential applicants.

If you would like to find out more about the HLF funding or have an idea for a heritage project, please contact Louise on LouiseH@hlf.org.uk or direct phone 0131 240 1583.

Project news
Some of the young people taking part in the HLF-funded project 'We Are Morton' have created a blog to follow their progress. The blog details exhibitions, works in progress and upcoming events.
