HLF funding has enabled communities across Wales to look after their local environment and culture, and inspired more people to see heritage as part of their lives.
Up and down the country people are busy finding out what makes their local area special and passing on their knowledge to others through films, performances, exhibitions and community events. In doing so they are creating lasting benefits for heritage and for people.
This booklet explores the wider social impacts of HLF-funded initiatives in Wales. We outline four heritage projects that demonstrate the many benefits that emerge when different generations and groups of people get talking and working together, and the local pride that can be generated through connecting with the past.
We hope these examples inspire you to consider how a heritage project can complement and enhance the work you do with your community.
