Access to Chiltern House
There is level access to 27 Castle Gate at the main entrance to the building. As you face the front of the building, this is to your right. You will need to press the intercom button on the front door as the building does not have a dedicated receptionist. There is lift access in the building, accessible toilets on the 1st floor of Castle Gate, and accessible toilets on the 2nd floor of Chiltern House. If you might need assistance, please let us know in advance or when you arrive as we will come down to meet you. If you have any questions or concerns about access, please speak to the HLF officer you are meeting with.
Directions from the train station
Leave the station by the main entrance on Carrington Street. Turn right towards Canal Street. Cross at the traffic lights and take the tunnel to the left of the bus station. This will bring you into the Broadmarsh Centre next to Argos.
Ahead are several large glass doors and Boots the Chemist to your left. Exit the centre using the doors near Boots. To the right of Boots there is a cut through to a road called Stanford Street. Walk to the top of Stanford Street and turn left onto Castle Gate. HLF is situated on the left hand side.
Directions from the tram stop
You will need to get off the tram at Old Market square, cross over the road and go up Friar Lane passing Costa Coffee on the corner and Forbidden Planet. You then need to turn left down Spaniel Row, follow it round to the end and then turn left onto Castle Gate. We are across the road (the building with white pillars either side of the doors) in Chiltern House.
Directions from M1
Junction 25
Follow the A52 then the A6005 into Nottingham city centre. Turn left onto Maid Marion Way (signposted Nottingham Castle). Turn right onto Friar Lane, then take the first right again onto Spaniel Row.
Junction 26
Take the A610 for around six miles into the city centre.
Continue on the A610 following the road around to the right onto Toll House Hill. Go straight on at the roundabout onto Maid Marion Way (A6008), turn left after the Park Plaza hotel on to Friar Lane. Take the first right onto Spaniel Row.
Follow Spaniel Row to the T-junction. Turn left onto Castle Gate. We are located on the right hand side of Castle Gate in the building with the white pillars either side of the doors. The black gates in the middle of the building lead to our car park. You will need to press the HLF button on the front door intercom for us to open the gates.
Parking
We are only able to offer limited visitor parking at Chiltern House so it is necessary to contact us in advance of your visit to check availability. There are several nearby multi-storey car-parks the closest are situated at the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre on Collin Street (NG1 7LL) and on St. James’ Street (NG1 6EY). There is also Park and Ride facilities available around Nottingham.
Blue Badge parking
You may park using your Blue Badge in the following designated disabled parking bays.
- Nearside Parking Bays (passenger side nearest the kerb) nearside parking bays allow passengers with a disability to get out of a vehicle onto the pavement.
- Offside Parking Bays (driver's side nearest the kerb)Offside bays cater for drivers with a disability, who can travel independently, and get in and out of a vehicle on the driver's side.
