Dame Jenny Abramsky visits HLF funded projects in Cardiff

07/12/2011

Dame Jenny Abramsky, UK Chair of Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), was in Cardiff today to see the difference HLF funding has made to people and places in the city.

She visited a number of HLF funded projects including Cardiff Castle, Bute Park and Insole Court. As part of her visit she met with Bute Park apprentices, Maggie Szczerbnska and Anthony Davies, funded through the £3.1million HLF grant towards the Bute Park restoration.

Dame Jenny Abramsky said: "It's fantastic to see these apprentices so enthused by working within the historic garden sector. Through their training we can be confident the skills are in place to maintain and sustain our unique parks to the highest standard possible for locals and visitors to enjoy both now and in the future.

"As well as Bute Park, HLF is investing in people through its Skills for the Future programme, equipping people with a wide range of practical heritage skills to help increase employability and meet the needs of the heritage sector."
