Project title:

 Accrington PALs Commemoration Project

Programme: Your Heritage
Applicant: Rowbot Street
Grant awarded: £11,200

A group of young people researched the poignant story of the Accrington PALS regiment, which recruited hundreds of men from the Lancashire town at the start of the war.

The young people produced and acted in a short film recounting the beginnings of the battalion and the attack on Serre in 1916 which claimed the lives of most Accrington soldiers and had a devastating impact on their families. The film was shown at community venues to help others learn about this local heritage.
