Project Snapshot

Project title:

 Corbiehall Refurbishment - New Lives

Programme: Your Heritage
Applicant: Falkirk Council
Grant awarded: £16,300

Falkirk’s ‘Coffin Blocks’, B-listed 1930 buildings designed by Matthew Steele will be the focal point of a new social history project. Some 30 volunteers and 180 school children will research and collect stories on the Coffin Blocks for interpretation with a leaflet, panels and a website, thanks to a £16,300 grant from HLF to Falkirk Council.

On top of this, community members will volunteer to learn new skills in interviewing and selecting a Community Capacity Building consultant, who will support the project. Other volunteers will work with a designer to edit information and create layouts for a leaflet, interpretation panels and a website. A launch event for an estimated 100 people will be held at the Bo’ness Hippodrome to celebrate the project.
