In North Yorkshire, an out-of-print 1919 book commemorated every known soldier from the Craven district who fell in the First World War.
To help preserve the rare publication, with a grant from Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), volunteers digitised the original and published it on the
Craven's part in the Great War website. Research by local people revealed over 1,000 more soldiers, whose names have now been added to the local roll of honour.
