Royal Research Ship Discovery was built in Dundee for the 1901 British Antarctic Expedition commanded by Captain Scott. It was the first ship to be built specifically for scientific research. As well repairing the decayed hull and decks of this nationally important vessel, new areas of the Discovery have been opened up to the public, and interpretation, a community-outreach programme and educational activities provided.
