Participation

Our funding promotes greater participation of people and communities in their heritage.

HLF projects have developed new and wider audiences for heritage. New programming and interpretation, audience consultation and outreach have helped to engage a much greater diversity of people across the UK.

We have enabled people to take an active role in decision-making and delivery. Local people have contributed to project advisory groups and youth panels, and heritage organisations and communities have worked together on heritage projects.

The projects we fund have provided a huge range of new volunteering opportunities. Volunteers have improved their skills, confidence, health and well-being, while heritage has benefited from their experience, time and enthusiasm.
