Buildings and monuments

Over the past 17 years we have given over £1.5billion to projects that have conserved more than 14,000 historic buildings and other structures, including 2,750 listed at Grade I/A and Grade II*/B.

Our funding is used to repair and transform a wide variety of buildings that people want to keep and hand on to future generations, such as the stunning Art Deco lido in Brockwell Park, south London, and the last surviving court of back-to-back housing in Birmingham.

The transformation of prominent historic buildings can be a catalyst for regeneration. A rejuvenated St George’s Market in Belfast has created a vibrant commercial centre and stimulated investment in the area, whilst the refurbished De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill, West Sussex, is contributing enough extra visitor spend in the seaside town to support over 100 local jobs.

War Memorials
There has recently been increased interest in the condition of war memorials across the UK. There are a number of sources of funding available to help people look after and learn from their local war memorials and to commemorate the heritage of sacrifice and conflict.
