Welcome to the Scotland page

Scotland today has been shaped by the lives of its people over thousands of years.  In Scotland we are proud of our landscapes, buildings and vast museum and archive collections, as well as our customs, languages, and cultural traditions.  At HLF our aim is simple: to help people preserve and enjoy the shared heritage that has given Scotland its identity.  Just think about what Scotland would be like without the Waverley Paddle Steamer, the Scott Monument, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the Treshnish Isles, or the landscape of the Tweed Valley?

What would you miss the most about your local heritage if it was to disappear?  Would it be a park, monument, woodlands or memorabilia relating to your area

Advice and support

We are keen to work together with local groups and national organisations to develop projects that will give people a better opportunity to experience, enjoy, care for and protect our heritage.  The Scotland Team welcomes the opportunity to give you early advice on your project. No matter how small your grant request is, we recommend that you contact us as soon as possible. Complete the pre application form for the grant programme you wish to apply for and we will advise you on your project and its suitability for an HLF grant.
