This list is every Freedom of Information request HLF has received between 1 April 2016 and 31 March 2017. This list will be updated every six months.

March 2017

  • Follow up request from February. Requester sought letter and email around Beckenham Place Park. This was refused as under s.14: dealing with vexatious requests of the FOIA
  • Requester was interested in contacting a grantee of a project. Generic contact information was supplied
  • Requester sought information on the Darlington Civic Theatre grant and in particular the theatre archive element. Sections 2 – 4 of the application form were provided
  • Requester sough information on the Caledonian Clock Tower grant. This included information on meetings, reports and application forms. The first and second round application forms, grant notification letter and case papers were provided with some personal information redacted under s.40 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought information on government procurement cards. Information was provided
  • Requester sought information on WiFi usage at HLF offices. This was provided
  • Requester sought information on an Our Heritage grant awarded to Paddington Arts. Sections 2 -3 of the application form were provided
  • Requester sought information on the Accrington Townscape Heritage project. The application form was provided
  • Requester sought information on the LGBTQ History Club project. The application form was provided with some personal information redacted under s.40 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought information on Teej Tyohaar - Our Festivals project. Sections 2 – 4 were provided with some personal information redacted under s.40 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought general information about a historic grant from the Waterhouses Community Association. The application form was provided with some personal information was redacted under s.40 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought information on HLF’s digital terms of grants. This request is currently being progressed
  • Requester sought information on all FOI requests received by HLF from 1 January 2017 to 29 March 2017. This was provided

February 2017

  • Follow up request from January. The requester sought documentation on the past management and accounts of the Geler Jones Collection endowment fund of £100,000 granted by the NHMF to the National Trust in 1993/4. HLF did not hold this information and the case paper and contract were provided
  • Follow up request. Requester sought inventory list attached as part of the Geler Jones Collection endowment contract. This was provided
  • Follow up request. Requester sought photographs referenced in the application form. These were not held so this was a nil return
  • Requester sought the activity plan for the Wirksworth Heritage Centre project. This was provided
  • Requester sought information on ICT strategy. This was provided
  • Requester sought information on the Bolton Museum grant. Sections 2 – 4 of the application were provided
  • Requester sought information for a TH project run by Hyndburn Borough Council. Sections 3 – 5 of the application form were provided
  • Requester sought the application form, supporting documents and the award letter. These were provided with personal information redacted under s.40 and the organisations bank details under s.41 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought the approved purposes for the ‘Brass Band Heritage and Archive project’. This information was provided
  • Requester sought the grant contract for the Vulcan to the Sky project. This was provided

January 2017

  • Follow up request from December. Requester sought the supporting letters for Beckenham Place Park. These were provided with some information redacted under s.40 of the FOIA
  • Follow up request. Requester sought supporting documents for Beckenham Place Park. These were provided with some information redacted under s.43 and s.40 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought information on a grant awarded to the Comrie Development Trust. Sections 2 – 4 were provided. Information was also requested about HLF’s Committees, Committee members and broader questions about the applicant of the grant. This information was provided
  • Follow up request. Requester sought information on Committee recruitment and remuneration. This was provided
  • Requester sought information on whether HLF had received any pre-apps or applications for Muston Village Hall. This was a nil return
  • Follow up request from December. Requester sought information on the whereabouts of the original hand-written inventory of the Geler Jones Collection of Vintage Farm Machinery, now in the care of the National Trust at Llanerchaeron. This was a nil return
  • Requester sought information about the proposed costs and works for the Otterburn Hall Renovation and Refurbishment. Sections 2 – 4 of the application form were provided.
  • Follow up request. Requester sought more detailed information on works at Otterburn Hall. As a detailed schedule of works was not yet available, contextual information was provided.
  • Requester sought information on Finance and IT software. This was provided
  • Requester sought information on a grant made by Strensall with Towthorpe Parish Council in relation to play equipment. The grant was not awarded by Heritage Lottery Fund, the requester was given the contact details of the Big Lottery Fund
  • Requester sought information of the outcome of any applications from the Parish of Hemingbrough Historical/Heritage Society. This information was provided
  • Requester sought information about the South Down Conservation Board’s project ‘The Serpent’s Tail’. The application form, business plan, contract and Heathlands Corridor survey were provided with some personal redacted under s.40 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought information on whether funding had been awarded to Tulip Radio Ltd. This was provided
  • Requester sought information on Facilities contracts. This was provided
  • Follow up request. Requester sought the job title of the member of staff responsible for the above contract. This was provided
  • Follow up request from December. Documents produced for the Hampstead Suburb Garden Trust as part of their project were requested. These were provided
  • Requester sought information on the purchase of gardening equipment by Wragby Parish Council as part of their project. This information was provided
  • Requester sought information on the Kingfisher Trail project and project costs. Sections 2, 3 and 5 of the application were provided
  • Requester sought details about the Humberhead Levels LP project. Sections 2 – 4 were provided

December 2016

  • Requester sought information on a grant awarded to Colne Valley Railway. Sections 2 – 4 was provided with some personal information redacted under s.40 of the FOIA
  • Follow up request from November. Requester sough additional information on the Hampstead Suburb Garden Trust application form. Contextual information was provided
  • Requester sought correspondence between HLF, Thanet District Council and the Dreamland Trust in regard to the Dreamland Margate project and any correspondence and documents to do with Sands Heritage entering administration.  Correspondence was already in the public domain so the requester was given a link to it. HLF held no correspondence to do with Sands Heritage entering administration so this was a nil return
  • Requester sought information on a historic grant to the National Trust at Llanerchaeron. The case paper was provided
  • Requester sought the second round application form for Beckenham Place Park. This was provided with some financial information redacted under s.43 of the FOIA
  • Follow up request. Requester sought the Board minute when the decision to award a grant to Beckenham Place Park was made. This was provided

November 2016

  • Follow up request from October. Requester sought a list of projects form the last five years funded under the Parks for People and Landscape Partnerships programmes and the total value of those grants. They also wanted information on how HLF assess environmental impact. Data requested was provided alongside contextual information
  • Requester sought information on the St Mary’s Lighthouse and Visitor Centre project. Sections 2 – 4 were provided
  • Requester sought the application for Jane Austen House Museum ‘Piecing Together Jane Austen 200 years on’. Sections 2 – 4 were provided
  • Requester sought information on Gainsbourough’s House Society’s application to HLF in June 2016. Sections 2 – 4 were provided
  • Requester sought contextual information on the All Souls Centre project in Bolton. Information was provided
  • Requester sought the application form, constitution, accounts, cost breakdown, calculation of full cost recovery, development work briefs, job descriptions, project images, letters of support, fundraising plan and correspondence for the Parish of Bolton ‘A Passion for People project’. The majority of this information was released in full. The application form was released with personal information redacted under s.40 of the FOIA and some financial information under s.43 of the FOIA. The cost breakdown and fundraising plan were withheld under s.43 of the FOIA. Correspondence was released with some redactions under s.40 and s.43 of the FOIA, one piece of correspondence was withheld in its entirety under s.41 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought information on a historic grant awarded to Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust. The application form was provided, with some personal information redacted under s.40 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought contact details for the Head of HR. This was provided
  • Requester sought information about lifts and air conditioning at HLF’s head office. This was provided
  • Requester sought the contract and any special conditions for the Valentines Mansion project. These were provided
  • Requester sought information on telephone lines at HLF offices. This was provided

October 2016

  • Requester sought detailed information on project awards that involved tree removal and/or replacement. HLF did not collect the level of detail requested so the requester was asked to refine their request
  • Requester sought information about air conditioning at HLF offices. This was provided
  • Requester sought information on software expenditure over 2014/15 and 2015/16. This was provided
  • Requester sought information on awards made to churches over £1million over the last three years and the reasons that a grant application made by St Jude-On-The Hill, Central Square, Hampstead Garden Suburb was rejected. The data requested was provided alongside the minute extract from a Board of Trustees meeting
  • Requester sought the application for the Diss Heritage triangle project, a copy of HLF documentation surrounding the award decision. Sections 2 – 4 of the application form were provided. The second round case paper was released with some financial information redacted under s.43 of the FOIA. An extract from the committee meeting minutes where the decision was taken was also provided
  • Requester sought information on contracts for HR and finance services at HLF. This was provided
  • Requester sought a copy of a HLF commissioned report into the governance of Heritage Trust North West. The report was withheld under s.41 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought the contract and review documents for a grant awarded to Pymmes Park, London. The contract, progress reports, project closure report and project completion report were provided

September 2016

  • Requester sought information on conditions set by HLF for awarding money to the Dreamland Margate project in respect to the proportion of ‘vintage’ content of the site. The requester was informed that there were none and HLF’s procedures do not include setting formal conditions on delivery of such detail unless in very exceptional circumstances
  • Follow up request from August. Requester sought information about the other 5 Parks for People second round applications going to decision at the same meeting as Beckenham Place Park. This was provided
  • Requester sought statistics on BAME applicants from the last five years. This was provided.
  • Requester sought information on applications made by the Antrim Community Development Group. This was a nil return
  • Requester sought information on HLF’s facilities services. This was provided
  • Requester sought information about HLF’s internal facilities and finance departmental plans and strategies. This was provided
  • Requester sought information on HLF’s departmental budgets over the last five years, details of any policies to do with ‘global influence’ and how HLF defines ‘global influence’. The requester was sent a link to HLF’s Business plans for the past five years. The rest of the request was a nil return
  • Requester sort information on any applications or pre-applications made by Port Erroll Harbour Trust. Information was provided
  • Requester sought information about thee Pittencrieff Park Project. Sections 2 – 4 of the application form were provided

August 2016

  • Requester sought the second round application form for Beckenham Place Park. As this was under assessment it was withheld under s.43 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought the application forms and evaluation reports for four grants to Jane Austen’s House Museum. These were provided in full for three projects, but one project’s archive files had been destroyed
  • Requester sought details of communications for the last two years between HLF and Y Fron Development Group, Upper Llandwrog, Caernarfon, Gwynedd. This was a nil return as there hadn’t been any
  • Request for the second round application form for Beckenham Place Park, This was again withheld under s.43 of the FOIA due to it being under assessment
  • Requester sought information about the National Trust’s Quarry Bank Mill project. Sections 2 – 4 were provided
  • Requester sought information about Trustee pay and meeting attendance. This was provided.
  • Requester sought the application made to HLF by Bow Arts Trust for Raw Materials project. Sections 2 – 4 were provided

July 2016

  • Requester sought the application or a description of the development of Gerazim Chapel, Cwmcerdinen by Mawr Development Fund. Sections 2 – 4 of the application form were provided
  • Requester sought information about ICT expenditure. The requester was signposted to the annual reports on the website which held this information
  • Requester sought information on the security alarms, CCTV & fire detection at HLF offices. This was provided
  • Requester sought the application forms and any supporting documents for four projects in the West Midlands. This was provided with some redactions. Personal information was redacted under s.40 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought information about temporary staffing at HLF. This was provided
  • Requester sought the grant agreement between HLF and Kent County Council for the Kent Tithe Map Project. This was provided
  • The requester sought the application form, activity, business and interpretive plans for Bletchley Park Museum’s 2011 grant award. The activity plan and interpretive plans were released in full. Personal information had been redacted under s.40 of the FOIA from the application form. The Business Plan was withheld under s.43 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought the first round application form for Beckenham Place Park. This was provided with some redactions. Personal information was redacted under s.40 of the FOIA and some financial information was withheld under s.43 of the FOIA

June 2016

  • Requester sought the proposal for the transfer of the Royal Marines Museum to Boathouse 6 in the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth. Section 2 – 4 of the application form was provided
  • Partner applicant, of a rejected Landscape Partnership bid by Medway Council for the project Great Expectations (North Kent), requested any application, pre-application and HLF response documents. As this project had been rejected the files at archive had been destroyed. The rejection letter was the only remaining document relevant to the request so was sent to the requester

May 2016

  • Requester sought the application form for the Watts Gallery Hope project. This was provided with personal information redacted under s.40 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought a copy of the maintenance schedule that was submitted as part of a grant award for St George’s Garden, London E1. This was provided
  • Applicant requested case notes for their rejected application for Arts & Cultural Centre at Charles Roe House. The case paper that went to the North West Committee was provided
  • Requester sought the grant award letter for the rebuilding of Botanic Cottage by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) project. This was provided with personal information redacted under s.40 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought statistical information on grant awards made in Shropshire over the past five years. This was provided
  • Follow up request for information on Heritage Grants over £100,000 made during the last HLF Committee meeting round. This was provided with two projects redacted under section 22: intended for future publication of the FOIA. Requester also sought information on grants over 100k that were not Heritage Grants. A link to the relevant part of the HLF website was provided. They also requested a list of all grants relating to PRIDE. This was provided
  • Requester sought information on how HLF assesses whether a project would engage people with heritage. Clarification was provided to the requester
  • Requester sought the application form, supporting documents and case paper for the Hoveton Wetlands Restoration Project. This was provided with some redactions. Personal information was redacted from the case paper and lease letter of commitment under s.40 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought application for St Mary Magdalen(e) Tower, Stony Stratford. Sections 2 and 3 were provided
  • Follow up request from April. Requester sought the business plan that was submitted as part of the second round application by Calderdale Council for the refurbishment of the Piece Hall. This was provided with some information redacted under section 41: provided in confidence of the FOIA
  • Requester sought information on the Derrygonnelly Orange Hall project. Sections 2 – 4 of the application form and the award amount were provided
  • Requester sought information on staff earning over 144k. This was a nil return
  • Requester sought HLF's equal opportunities policy. This was provided alongside a link to the equality scheme for HLF Northern Ireland
  • Follow up request on what part the Equality Act 2010 played in screening, assessing and awarding HLF awards and if this was covered by a single policy. There wasn’t a single policy at HLF. The annual report of HLF’s Equality Steering Group was provided

April 2016

  • Requester sought contracts for a number of financial services used by NHMF/HLF. This was provided
  • Requester sought information about the makeup of staff at HLF. Statistical data was provided
  • Requester sought a breakdown of HLF grants by region and grant type from 1994 – 31 March 2015. This was provided
  • Follow up request to the above. Requester sought clarification on the provided information, HLF’s criteria on Intangible Heritage and HLF’s governance arrangements. This was provided.
  • Requester sought the special conditions attached to the grant award to Calderdale Council for the refurbishment of the Piece Hall. These were provided
  • Requester sought the first round application form and grant award total for Globe Theatre, Stockton-on-Tees. This was provided with some redactions to the application form. The project costs were redacted under section 43: provided in confidence of the FOIA and personal information under s.40: personal information of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
  • Requester sought the second round application form for Calderdale Council’s project for the refurbishment of the Piece Hall. This was provided with some redactions. Personal information was redacted under s.40 of the FOIA and the organisation’s bank details under s.41 of the FOIA
  • Requester sought information on the grant award to HMS Caroline. The figure awarded was provided to the requester. They also requested information on an NHMF grant to preserve the Tank Landing Ship. A link to a press release was provided
  • Requester sought information on the amount of times HLF had commissioned BOP consultancy to conduct research. This was provided
