Our goal is to make a lasting difference for heritage, people and communities, as well maintaining our high standards as a responsive, efficient and collaborative funder.
Under our 2013-2018 strategic framework we provide a range of grant programmes that allow us to ensure the heritage you care about is looked after for the future.
We are committed to ensuring that all communities across the UK benefit from National Lottery funding, and to recognising and responding to local priorities.
In early 2019 we will begin a new, five-year National Lottery Funding Framework that sets out how we will distribute National Lottery good causes money to the heritage sector. In January 2018 we will begin a public consultation on how that will look.
Both of these recommend new ways of working, including simplifying our grant giving processes and operating even more efficiently, getting the most value from National Lottery funding.
We have published our response and implementation plan to the recommendations in the Tailored Review.
As we plan these changes, and adapt to a reduction in our National Lottery income, our Board has agreed that the next financial year 2018/19 – when we expect to distribute a substantial budget of c£190million - should be a transitional year, with some changes to our grant making. This will help us rebase ourselves to ensure that income, commitments and resources are combined.
