After 38 years in the finance industry, John took early retirement in June 2012 to pursue his interests in the voluntary and not-for-profit sectors.
For the last 11 years this was as a relationship director and head of Lloyds Bank's North Region Education, Community and Government team with particular responsibility for charities, further and higher education, NHS foundation trusts, local authorities and social housing.
He is currently a board member of two housing associations in Leeds and Newcastle, trustee of an almshouse and educational charity in Hull and a governor of two further education colleges at Kirklees and Askham Bryan.
With a lifelong curiosity about heritage, John’s particular interest is in how we can link heritage to improving the communities and surroundings that people live in.
John was born in Yorkshire and has lived and worked throughout the county. In his spare time he is involved in motorsport as a competitor and official and is also a keen walker particularly in the North Yorkshire moors countryside where he currently lives.
