Posts not appearing; forum logging you out?

We've received several queries lately from users who have had trouble posting comments and discussions.

The issue has been that when the user finishes typing and hits 'save' on a new thread, or 'submit' on a new comment, they are logged out and taken back to the Online Community landing page and the thread/comment is not posted.

We have our technical team looking into this problem, but what we are guessing at this stage is that it's to do with the website timing out.

For security reasons, we have set a 15-minute time limit when entering information into the site. So, if your post is more than just a couple of sentences, we suggest that you compose your discussion opening or comment in a Word document, Text file or even a new email, and then copy and paste the finished text into the forum, rather than compose it in the forum from scratch.

We hope this will eliminate the problems some people are having.

But let me assure you, we are looking into it further, and I would welcome any comments or questions from anyone still encountering this problem even when copying and pasting text into the forum.

thanks for your understanding,

Amy

  1. Hi Amy

This has just happened to me.  I know you post a suggestion which will help for next time but its a shame to lose the comment and the time writing it!

Perhaps an autosave function or a warning  might prevent the same thing happening to other people.

  3. My apologies Stewart.

Autosave is something we're looking into, so hopefully we'll have a solution soon.

    thanks,

    Amy
