Contractor sought for designed landscape conservation strategy

CAVLP are funding a really interesting project to research and develop a conservation strategy for historic designed landscapes in the partnership area through Scotland's Garden and Landscape Heritage (sglh.org). With the research phase well on the way to completion, SGLH are now looking for a contractor to develop and produce a conservation strategy for these sites. If anyone is interested or knows of a potential contractor please let me know (or SLGH via Robert Luther - contact details below). The full advert for the position is below and hopefully it's of interest.

Contractor/Consultant sought to develop a Conservation Strategy and Landowners' Conservation Guidance Notes for the historic landscapes of the Clyde and Avon landscape partnership area (CAVLP) (2017-18) and the Falkirk Council area (2018-19)

Scotland's Garden and Landscape Heritage (SGLH) is seeking applications for a contract to initiate and manage an innovative and exciting, two-phase project.

The purpose of the project is to develop for publication a Conservation Strategy and Conservation Guidance Notes for Landowners. It will cover the CAVLP and Falkirk Council areas commencing October 2017. This project represents the second stage of a pilot project ('Glorious Gardens') launched by SGLH in both areas in 2014.

A key element will be the recruitment of volunteers and the provision of appropriate training to become actively involved in the development of the Conservation Strategy and the Conservation Guidance Notes for Landowners.

Volunteers will be drawn from local stakeholders, including community councils, heritage groups, local specialists and residents within the local authority area. Funding is being provided both by Historic Environment Scotland and by the Heritage Lottery Fund through CAVLP. Phase 1 of the project will run from 1 October 2017 to 31 March 2018, and Phase 2 from 1 March 2018 to 31 March 2019.

Applicants with proven ability in this field and experience in training and working with volunteers who wish to have further information should submit a curriculum vitae with a covering letter to info@sglh.org by 11 August 2017, for the attention of Robert Luther.
