Encouraging Disadvantaged Groups to engage with traditional crafts

The Dry Stone Walling Association is offering the opportunity to train for a new career in the traditional craft of dry stone walling. With support from Heritage Lottery Fund Skills for the Future Programme, a National Training Bursary Project has been launched. Our new project is very exciting as we plan to help 8  young people change their lives by embarking on a 12 month Training Bursary working alongside professional dry stone wallers. We are particularly keen to encourage people from disadvantaged groups to consider a career in dry stone walling and we are trying to engage with organisations that have links with ex-servicemen, ex-offenders or minority cultures. It is often difficult to make the right connections, so if you think you can help please contact me at training@dswa.org.uk.
