CAPS programme

Grant programme supporting Conservation Area Partnership Schemes. .

Catalyst Umbrella Grants programme

Grant programme to deliver a range of capacity building services, learning and networking opportunities to enable heritage organisations to increase the funding they receive from private sources, such as individual and corporate donors, trusts and foundations. Awards made in 2013.

Catalyst: Endowments programme

Grant programme supporting endowment building. Awards made in 2012 and 2013.

Catalyst: Small Grants programme

Grant programme to support a range of activities to build fundraising capacity and improve access to new sources of private funding. Awards made in 2013.

Collecting Cultures programme

Collecting Cultures supports museums, libraries and archives to develop their collections through strategic acquisition projects. The first programme was in 2007 and the second in 2014.

First-round pass

A first-round pass means the project meets HLF criteria for funding and HLF believes the project has potential to deliver high-quality benefits and value for Lottery money. The application was in competition with other supportable projects, so a first-round pass is an endorsement of outline proposals. Having been awarded a first-round pass, the project now has up to two years to submit fully developed proposals for consideration for a firm award.

Joint Places of Worship programme

JPOW was the predecessor to Grants for Places of Worship scheme – for places of worship based in England – run in conjunction with English Heritage.

Local Heritage Initiative programme

Programme for local communities to identify aspects of local heritage – run by the Countryside Commission. This programme ran from 2002 – 2007.

Millennium Festival Community Awards

Small grants to help communities celebrate the Millennium in Northern Ireland.

Millennium Festivities Fund

To fund projects which sought to celebrate the Millennium.

Museums and Archives Programme

Museums and Archives Programme (MAP) – batched programme for major museum and archive projects.

Museums and Galleries Access Fund programme

Museums and Galleries Access Fund – grants for three-year programme of activities to encourage more diverse audiences to visit museums and galleries.

Parks for People Project Planning programme

Grants to assess the possibility and set the initial groundwork for a full application to restore parks of historical significance. This programme ran from 2003- 2008.

Parks programme

Precursor to the Parks for People programme run solely by HLF from 2002 to 2007.

Project Planning Grants programme

Grants to assess the possibility and to help formulate an application to the Heritage Grants programme. This programme ran from 2002-2008.

Repair Grants for Places of Worship programme

Programme to help fund repairs to places of worship – subsequently split into separate RPOW programmes for each of the nations. These ran from 2002 – 2008.

RPOW England programme

Programme for the restoration of places of worship in England.

RPOW Northern Ireland programme

Programme for the restoration of places of worship in Northen Ireland

RPOW Scotland programme

Programme for the restoration of places of worship in Scotland.

RPOW Wales programme

Programme for the restoration of places of worship in Wales.

Skills for the Future programme

Skills for the Future funds work-based training in a wide range of skills that are needed to look after buildings, landscapes, habitats, species, and museum and archive collections, as well as equipping people to lead education and outreach programmes, manage volunteers and utilise digital technologies. Awards made in 2009, 2013 and 2017.

Tomorrow's Heathland Heritage programme

Programme to help restore the heathlands of the United Kingdom. This programme ran from 1997 – 2001.
