Sharing Heritage evaluation

23/09/2016

Sharing Heritage was one of our smallest grant programme between 2013 and 2018.  Grants ranged from £3,000 to £10,000 and were suitable for groups who have never applied to us before, as well as more experienced organisations.

Our evaluation found that:

  • The skills developed as a result of the grant are wide ranging.  For staff these skills tended to be project management, organisational and people skills.  For volunteers the skills are often ‘softer skills’
  • Volunteers are crucial to the success of the programme.  Large numbers of projects use volunteers.  They often bring specialist skills and a general commitment of time, enthusiasm and energy
  • The impact of a Sharing Heritage grant can be long lasting.  Most projects were able to demonstrate a degree of sustainability.  This was due to developing new skills, creating new partnerships, greater networking and improved organisational profile
