Caroline has spent twenty years working in the historic environment sector in Wales and England.

Caroline worked with the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England between 2003-2020 and held roles in fundraising and programme and project management. She was responsible for delivering the historic separation of the Commission into the English Heritage Trust and Historic England in 2015. Caroline then established and led the first Historic England Partnerships and Philanthropy Team, raising £5.8million in funding towards a variety of projects connected with Heritage at Risk, the Archive, skills and apprenticeships.

Caroline has been a Commissioner of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales since 2016. In this role she helps advise and steer the Commission’s work to ensure that the precious and irreplaceable heritage of Wales is recorded, understood, protected and enhanced. Caroline is also the Chair of the Commission’s Corporate Governance Committee.

Caroline holds an MPhil in Archaeological Heritage Management from the University of Cambridge and is currently undertaking a distance-learning MA degree in Philanthropic Studies at the University of Kent. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and her home is in Monmouth.
