Since 1994, the National Lottery has raised more than £47billion for good causes. Of this, The National Lottery Heritage Fund has distributed over £8.6bn to more than 49,000 heritage projects across the UK. 

Each year, The National Lottery Awards celebrate the inspirational people and projects who do extraordinary things with the help of that National Lottery funding.  

The nominations for this year’s awards are now open! You can nominate your National Lottery supported project and the people that made it happen in categories including:  

• Project of the Year  
• Heritage individual  
• Environmental individual  
• Community & Charity individual  
• Young Hero (Under 25s) 
• Special Achievement Award, which is a new addition for 2023 to honour an individual who has gone above and beyond 

Outstanding people and projects 

We’re proud to have supported so many previous winners, including: 

Clive Gray, Blyth Tall Ships, 2022 winner in the Heritage category 

Clive Gray’s National Lottery Award recognised his incredible leadership of Blyth Tall Ship, which changes lives through maritime heritage skills training, volunteering and experiences. 

The South of Scotland Golden Eagle project, 2022 Scotland Project of the Year winner 

A pioneering conservation scheme revitalising the golden eagle population in Dumfries and Galloway and Scottish Borders was named as Scotland’s National Lottery Project of the Year in 2022. 

An Tobar CIC, 2022 Northern Ireland Project of the Year winner 

The wellness centre and social farm in Silverbridge, South Armagh won a National Lottery award for helping young people explore the natural and cultural heritage of Brian’s Wood. 

Pollinating the Peak, 2021 Project of the Year winner 

The project based in Derbyshire was an ambitious National Lottery Heritage Fund supported project, working hard to revive the numbers of bumblebees in the Peak District.

Visit the National Lottery Good Causes website to submit your nomination and explore all the categories in full. You can also tweet @LottoGoodCauses using the hashtag #NLAwards with your suggestions. You’ve got until 12pm on 16 May 2023 to make your nomination.

Winners receive £5,000 and a National Lottery Awards trophy. The shortlist of 16 projects for Project of the Year will be announced later this year, and it will be open for public vote. Individual category winners will be chosen by a judging panel.
